It’s not a quick process. A Medicaid application can often take anywhere between four to sixteen months before it is approved. Most people may not be aware that the VA Aid and Attendance benefit is retroactive to the application date. If you submitted your application on Nov. 1, 2016, for example, but weren’t approved until June 1, 2017, your first benefits check would include that seven-month waiting period. The regular monthly check that arrives on July 1, 2014 would then be for the standard amount.
